RESONANT BODY®
Body-voice practices and movement research
regular sessions / drop in classes
This is a physical and vocal practice that I have been developing since 2019. This practice integrates various techniques and methods, including Butoh dance, Antunes Filho's acting training, improvisation, contemporary dance, as well as somatic practices related to breath and voice, including Kundalini Yoga. These techniques are integral components of my own research and practice as an interdisciplinary artist.
The training begins with a guided group warm-up, the *'Djalma Warm-up'*. This involves a continuous sequence of movements that are mimicked and repeated in a circle. The focus is on the connection between breathing, movement, and energy work, both individually and within the group. This active, meditative cleansing ritual helps participants leave their everyday lives behind, release old patterns, and reduce unnecessary tensions. At the same time, it brings participants into a new state of body and mind, awakening them and preparing them for the second part of the session.
The second part consists of somatic and improvisational exercises performed individually, in pairs, or in groups. These exercises range from sensitive, personal experiences to playful, creative possibilities within the space. Participants explore the relationship between breath/voice and movement. In this process, the inner body and the unconscious are awakened and creatively utilized. Working with the voice involves exploring and enjoying its possibilities and dimensions, both as sound and as language. We play with the diversity of its qualities, colors, timbre, materiality, resonance, rhythm, meaning, and energy. When using the voice as language, the goal is to establish a connection between language and body in such a way that we are no longer compelled to impose rational meanings on our actions or words. Instead, it is about expressing our creative energy in a poetically absurd manner. This experience fosters a profound sense of freedom.
The training is open to everyone, regardless of their previous experience. The only requirement is the desire to explore one's own creativity through body and voice work in exchange with others in the space.
Language: German or English.
*The word 'Djalma' comes from Javanese and means 'Metamorphosis.'
